Mrs. Lois Ellen Church, 81, of Edgerton, WI died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville. She was born in Janesville on October 10, 1930, the daughter of William and Bertha (Zahn) Borkenhagen. She graduated from Janesville High School on Main Street in 1949 and married Eugene (Gene) Church on September 23, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and pre-confirmation classes until becoming  church secretary at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she served from 1989 to 2006. In 2006, she went to work at Sam’s Club and later with Crossmark doing store demo’s until earlier this year.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, three sons, David (Jackie) Church of Orion, MI, Dr. John (Cheri) Church of Janesville, Dr. Thomas (Kathy) Church of Elida, OH, three daughters, Mary, RN (Thomas) Stibbe of LaCrosse, WI, Ellen Church, RN of Janesville, Ariel (Ray) DeSilvis of Kingston Springs, TN, one brother, Phillip (Lys) Borkenhagen of Milton, WI, 22 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2940 Mineral Point Avenue, Janesville on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Cory Rajek officiating. Visitation will be at the Church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Loving Arms Pre-School, Lutheran Women Missionary League or Mt.
